Jennifer (Richards) and her family go on a summer road trip in a used RV with her husband's estranged father and brother. Along the way, they find Samantha (Barton) and her brother, broken down on the side of the highway. After driving into the middle of nowhere, the RV takes on a mind of its own, crashing and stranding them in the scorching and isolated desert. Little by little, the unsuspecting group of travelers is blindsided by the terrible secrets within the walls of the RV and find themselves fighting to survive.

Charles has purchased a vintage RV with the hopes of taking his family on a road trip to reconcile with his two sons, a promise he made to his wife before she recently passed. His oldest son, Steve, his wife Jennifer (Denise Richards), their daughter and family dog, are excited for the excursion, however, his youngest son Jay is less than enthusiastic.

Along the way, the family picks up Samantha (Mischa Barton) and her brother, broken down on the side of the highway. Before they get them to a service station in the next town, however, Charles insists on taking a detour into the desert to visit a landmark and they soon get lost. Now stranded in the desert, the unsuspecting group is blindsided by the terrible secrets they discover within the walls of the RV and find themselves in the fight of their lives.

You can certainly compare 'The Toybox' to other possessed vehicle films like "Christine" for example but it brings with it some original ideas and a new setting for horror, an RV.

It doesn't take the film long to introduce to the killer RV, when a young boy on a bike passes the RV its door opens. Curious the young boy enters the RV only to have the car slam shut on him and in the process he is killed. It then switches to Charles and his family as they are getting ready to go on a road trip. Along the way strange things begin to happen like the ac doesn't work, the radio has a mind of its own and the windows don't open.

While driving they run into a brother and sister who have broken down on the road. Lucky for them Charles and his family happened to be passing by so they offer them a lift into town after they make another stop. But it doesn't take long for the RV to reveal its horrible past and one by one they start getting killed. Out of food and water and stuck in the middle of the desert they must figure out a way to escape the RV and its haunted past before there is no one left.

'The Toybox' is a very enjoyable horror flick with awesome tension and suspense, great kills and a cast that deliver. The film has some familiar faces in Denise Richards and Mischa Barton. Both ladies look amazing and are terrific in their roles. The rest of the ensemble cast did a great job as well. The film has a great pace to it and it looks terrific thanks to Director, Tom Nagel who follows up his 2016 gem, "ClownTown" with another film that is sure to gain him more of a following.

As the film moves along it slowly builds on suspense, anticipation and mystery but once the RV begins to take over fear and desperation sets in. This is a frightening and creepy film that tells the story of horrific acts of violence that took place inside the RV at the hands of a serial killer. I had a great time going for a ride with 'The Toybox' It is hell on wheels and its one horror film I recommend everyone jump on board for.

The film Opens in Limited Release September 14th Nationwide Digital and Blu-ray Release September 18th. so be sure to check it out then. This is a terrifying and blood curdling horror film that is full of mayhem and thrills.
