This is a delightful, fun and yet often touching comedy about a young man with a big heart but little brains and his girlfriend who wants to get marry him regardless of what everyone else thinks. When Dingus decides to join in the Olympic games the local Mayor looks to make Dingus into like a complete fool not only ruining the games for him but also his romance with Excel. The whole town including Dingus' girlfriend knows he is being set up for a fall but they are all under the pressure and are being are given promises by the Mayor himself to keep quiet. I loved the characters, they are all colorful and fun and the humor is at times hilarious. I would say that if "Dumb and Dumber" and "Napoleon Dynamite" had a baby Dingus would certain be it. If you enjoy comedies like those listed above then I have to recommend this one. The film is not totally original but it does bring it's own ideas and freshness to the table. I enjoyed a lot of the situational comedy that was in the film besides the ones within the dialogue. But the film to me wasn't all about just being funny, it also left a message that it is okay to just be yourself which is a always a nice message to send out. With all the brainless comedies coming out any more it is nice to see something a little smarter and yet still funny, Dingus is a fun filled Independent film directed by Corey Surge, I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next and I also look forward to seeing what the talented cast will be in next as well. Be sure to pick this up when it comes to DVD on May 4th but for now you can watch the first three minutes of the film below.
