Witness a hellish vision of 1999, as social isolation, analog technology and disturbing home videos fuse into a nightmare of found footage savagery. Featuring five new stories from filmmakers Maggie Levin, Johannes Roberts, Flying Lotus, Tyler MacIntyre and Joseph & Vanessa Winter, V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analog days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium.
'V/H/S/99' is another found footage horror anthology. It features five new stories Maggie Levin, Johannes Roberts, Flying Lotus, Tyler MacIntyre and Joseph & Vanessa Winter:
"Shredding," a bratty punk rock band breaks into the ruins of an abandoned art collective where a previous band met their grisly fate in a freak accident.
"Suicide Bid," a girl partakes in a claustrophobic hazing ritual for a sorority that soon unleashes the supernatural.
"Ozzy's Dungeon," a sleazy TV show host is forced to endure a brutal obstacle gauntlet inspired by his own show, which caused the permanent disfigurement of a former contestant.
"The Gawkers," voyeuristic teenagers unearth the horrifying truth behind the girl next door.
"To Hell And Back," two filmmakers asked to document a summoning ritual on the eve of Y2K are accidentally transported to a hellish dimension, where a tormented soul guides them in escaping its demonic inhabitants.
Horror fans seems to enjoy this series of films so after the success of V/H/S/94 we are now getting this new anthology. Much like any of its type there are going to be a mix of good and not so good in the mix. This for me was a bit of a disappointment. There are only a few stories I liked which with 'Suicide Bid' being the best of the lot. I few others are good to passable but nothing to blow you away with.
I still found the film to be worth a watch and was entertained through most of it. The cast members were all good including, Steven Ogg, Ally Ioannides, Keanush Tafreshi, Emily Sweet, and Archelaus Crisanto. RLJE Films will release V/H/S/99 on DVD, BluRay and BluRay/DVD SteelBook on May 23, 2023. It comes with over 3 hours of bonus material including:

V/H/S/99 is not the best anthology to come alone but if you have not seen it and are a fan of horror then I recommend checking it out.
