A pedophile is released out of prison from a 6-year sentence after allegedly molesting a 12-year old girl. The victim, now 18, reunites with her assailant whom she calls her "soul mate" only to spark outrage in the community. Not only do they attack the Pedophile, but soon cause more harm and chaos to the girl that they supposedly were protecting.
This is an experimental film written by its stars Kai Lanette and Shane Ryan who also directed the film. The film unfolds in three parts with the first two being shot in a very gritty yet realistic way and it lets the camera and the music that drives it tell most of the tale as there is very little in the way of spoken words. The final part of the film you get to see Malachi released from jail and heading home for what is a riveting finish. This will not be for everyone since it deals with a disturbing subject matter and the way the film is shot which of course is no where near mainstream but that is what makes the film so powerful. You slowly watch as this young girl goes from having a bad home life to living on the streets to finally doing drugs and turning tricks for money. The most disturbing thing about it all is this sort of thing happens everyday which is pretty scary for any parent. If your a fan of Independent cinema then I highly recommend checking this out, it is certainly a powerful film that leaves a lasting impression long after it is over and one of the most original pieces of work I have seen in some time. It is not an easy film to watch but I did find it to be important and I was entertained the entire time. I received the shorter Theatrical version for review but the longer version will be available when it comes out on DVD in December. If your into experimental film making or just like to watch films that are different than the normal stuff in theaters this is one film to check out, it is as captivating as it is shocking.
