In THE WATER MAN, Gunner (Lonnie Chavis) sets out on a quest to save his ill mother (Rosario Dawson) by searching for a mythic figure who possesses the secret to immortality, the Water Man. After enlisting the help of a mysterious local girl, Jo (Amiah Miller), they journey together into the remote Wild Horse forest -- but the deeper they venture, the stranger and more dangerous the forest becomes. Their only hope for rescue is Gunner’s father (David Oyelowo), who will stop at nothing to find them.

'The Water Man' tells the story of Gunner, his father Amos and his ill mother Mary. Mary and Amos choose to not have the talk Gunner probably needs so when he hears about a local legend people call The Water Man and goes to see a a young girl who claims to have seen him. The Water Man is said to possess a stone that has the ability to bring back the dead. Gunner hopes to find him and have him help save his illing mother.

'The Water Man' sounds like a horror film but it is in fact a family film that is geared a bit more towards kids then adults but it is still a fun 80's style adventure film that has sends a few messages like spending time with loved ones because in the end it is the most wonderful gift we have...love. I know the film received mixed reviews and it is full of plot holes but that never seemed to matter much because I was just enjoying the adventure Gunner was on.

The cast is another reason the film was enjoyable. The film has star power in David Oyelowo, Rosario Dawson, Alfred Molina and Maria Bello. But the star of of film was the young Lonnie Chavis. You might know him from the hit TV series, "This Is Us." He gives a fantastic performance as Gunner, I can see a bright future in acting for this young man.

'The Water Man' will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 17th. The film is not without its flaws but what film isn't? It is a fun filled, emotional adventure film the entire family can enjoy together and that is a winner to me.
