Desperate for a break from big city life, Emma heads to her family’s cabin deep in the Arkansas hills. As she settles in for some much-needed R&R, she learns that something unspeakable lurks in the surrounding darkness. As the full moon rises, a bloodthirsty werewolf emerges from the shadows, slaughtering everyone in its path and revealing a sinister underworld Emma never knew existed. Thrown into a fight for her life, and her very soul, Emma will need to escape these big bad woods before it’s too late.

When it comes to horror films Werewolves are about my favorite so I was looking forward to checking this one out even though I was not all that impressed with the trailer. Knowing that the film was done on a low budget I was more than willing to over look certain things like effects but in the end the they were the least of the problems here because there was not a whole lot to like.

The story is so thin I am not even going to go into details here but I will say that the plot is simple and they could of done a lot better job with the characters and their back stories, they way it is does not allow of any connection to them. Another thing that I found below average was the acting, besides the always amazing Bill Oberst Jr. no one really stood out but I have to cut the cast a break because they did not have a lot to work with either because the dialogue was weak as well.

I was hoping for a decent werewolf movie but instead I got another below average film like so many before it. I am not sure why there are so many really bad werewolf movies out there. "Werewolf Rising" has a running time of 80 minutes but I found myself bored to death most of the time. The only two things I can say I liked about the film was Bill Oberst Jr. and the ending was not bad either but the rest of the film really let it down.

As always if you like werewolf movies then give it a go but you have been warned. Available on DVD with no Special features. You can order it HERE.
