How much can you really know about another person? The unsettling truth that even those closest to us can harbor hidden dimensions drives this thrillingly unpredictable, blood-stained fear trip. Jackie (Hannah Emily Anderson) and Jules (Brittany Allen) are a couple celebrating their one year anniversary at a secluded cabin in the woods belonging to Jackie’s family. From the moment they arrive, something changes in Jules’ normally loving wife, as Jackie (if that even is her real name) begins to reveal a previously unknown dark side—all building up to a shocking revelation that will pit Jules against the woman she loves most in a terrifying fight to survive.

The above synopsis is all you should know before seeing 'What Keeps You Alive' because the film has a number of secrets and twists along the way and I would only ruin the film for those waiting to see it if I were to go into any more detail here.

As mentioned above it is the first marriage anniversary of Jackie and Jules and they do are spending it alone up at a cabin owned by Jackie's family. Everything seems fine at first but it doesn't take long for Jackie to start acting a bit strange and it worse after they get visited by an old friend of Jackie's who lives across the lake. As the film moves along, Jules begins to find out things about Jackie that she some how forgot to mention but Jules seems to be willing to overlook everything at first but when Jackie decides to push Jules off a cliff to her death everything changes.

'What Keeps You Alive' is everything you might imagine and more. It is full of suspense, mystery and tension. The secluded area always creates an enormous about of atmosphere and mood.

Another great thing about the film is its leads, Hannah Emily Anderson is incredible as Jackie. She brings new meaning to the word psycho because she is so convincing at it. Brittany Allen is just as impressive as Jules, a much more timid, mild-mannered person than Jackie. Both women are fantastic and they play off each other perfectly. Martha MacIsaac and Joey Klein are also very good as the couple who live across the lake who end up being unwilling participants in Jules' crazy delusions.

'What Keeps You Alive' is an action-packed thrill ride that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Just when you think the film is over Writer/Director, Colin Minihan tosses another twist at you. To me this is by far Colin's best film to date and I look forward to seeing what he does next. 'What Keeps You Alive' is more a thriller than a horror film but fans of horror are going to enjoy this one too because of all that is going on including a few disturbing scenes of extreme violence. I had a great time watching this film and highly recommend it. This is a pulse pounding thriller that is made better by having great director, a terrific story and an amazing cast that deliver. The film opens in cinemas and on VOD 8/24/18 so be sure to check it out.
