In this post-apocalyptic thriller, a virus has devastated the world's population, forcing survivors to eke out a harsh existence behind a huge white wall. There, reformed bounty hunter Shawn Kors (James Boss) must accept one last job to protect his quiet life. Kors is trapped between the militia that rules the cities and a rival gang, and as the violence escalates, he is tormented by memories of the brutal beginnings he thought he had overcome.

White Wall creates a story that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. There is a lot at play here, you get some good drama, action and fantasy as well. After the virus VXII wipes out most of the human race those remaining live in a place that is surrounded by a huge white wall but life inside isn't very good either, there's corruption and violence everywhere and every man must fend for himself. The story is a lot more complex than you might think but to give it all away here would only spoil it. For a low-budget film I was pretty impressed with the production, from the sets, cinematography and the score I the film-makers did a great job using what they had to work with to create the right atmosphere needed. The action scenes were very good as well, most of them contain martial arts and I felt they were well-choreographed. The acting for the most part was good, some of the characters seemed to be a little weak but over-all most of them were believable. Actor/Director, James Boss did a terrific job in front and behind the camera as the lead character considering this is his debut film as a director. He seemed to have a vision of what he wanted to do and he made it work. The film seems to take a little time to settle in but once it does and you are invested the pay-off is worth it. I liked the idea behind the story and thought it was pulled off well, I am not sure everyone will take a to it like I did but for those that like this sort of dark film will find it to be refreshing and original. Certainly not a classic but for a first time effort I thought the film offered enough original ideas and the right mix of drama and action to make it a worthwhile watch for any fan of the genre. I look forward to seeing more work from all involved and with a little more of a budget next time I think they could really make something special. But as it is White Wall was an entertaining film that was engaging, thrilling and thought-provoking enough for me to recommend. The DVD comes with deleted scenes and you can order it and many more great titles HERE.
