Jamal Hawkins is a handsome bachelor who will soon be a very wealthy man. As the primary heir to the ďLet It RollĒ toilet paper corporation, Jamal is set to inherit his grandfatherís empire. Jamalís world comes crashing down when he discovers that his grandfather has placed a stipulation on his inheritance. The bachelor must find a wife before his grandfather passes away within the next 90 days. As a man who doesnít believe in marriage, Jamal is lost on what to do. Matters are further exasperated by Jamalís conniving half sister, Monica, who calculates a way to steal the corporation right from under her siblingís nose. In an effort to help, Jamalís best friend, Danny, devises a plan to fool Jamalís family and find a suitable wife as soon as possible. With the aid of his new secretary, Rachel, Dannyís one time fling, the trio comes together to hold a casting call for women of all shapes, types, colors and creeds, that might meet his grandfatherís high standards.
"Will to Love" tells the story of Jamal, a CEO of a million-dollar company who is set to inherit his grandfather's company and his estate but there is a catch, Jamal must get married before his grandfather passes away. There is a lot at play here, after running auditions for a fake reality show in order to find Jamal a wife he finally finds what he thinks is the woman of his dreams but his half sister wants Jamal to fail so she will inherit the company and in turn sell it off to the highest bidder so nothing is as it seems. And then there is Jamal's secretary, Rachel who has feelings for him but Jamal some how doesn't see it. Jamal will need to decide what to do before long or risk losing everything.
I really enjoyed this made for television movie. I would have never known it was a TV movie if I hadn't read it. The film has a lot going for it, I thought it was well written, smart at times and hilarious. Tack on the message of marrying for the right reasons and some romance and you have yourself a very enjoyable comedy/romance.
Another reason the film is so entertaining is the great cast, Marques Houston is excellent as Jamal and Black Thomas is simply hilarious as Jamal's best friend, Danny. And last but not least Keshia Knight Pulliam who plays Rachel, she is as talented as she is beautiful.
I could have gone on and on about the story but I don't want to ruin the story and its surprises for those of you wanting to see it. "Will to Love" is a funny romantic comedy that does it without having nudity or raunchy jokes. I cannot recommend checking out this little gem enough. It is sure to do very well on home video do to strong word of mouth. Available on DVD, you can order it HERE.
