Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) past and the events that influenced the mutant before the Weapon X program bonded his skeleton with the powerfully strong metal alloy adamantium. After the death of his girlfriend, Wolverine seeks vengeance against supervillain.

From the start of this series of films you knew that Hugh Jackman was the perfect choice to play Wolverine in the X-Men movies. I really enjoyed the first film it laid down the foundation and introduced us to the characters and story, the second film I also thought was very good and it had much more action. The third film is another story, I felt it really fell apart and I am not alone on that, easily it was the worse of the three movies. Now Wolverine gets his own film, a look at his past and how he became who he is. I was excited about this one as it had so much potential going into it and Wolverine is easily the most popular of the X-Men characters. I loved the first half of the film, as a non-comic reader I was taken in by his story and really gained a lot of knowledge of the character in general before X-Men formed. During the second half of the movie the action gets taken up a level, the fight scenes were well done and the cgi looked really good. The film answers some questions along the way as well like where Adamantium comes from and the Sabretooth and Wolverine relationship. It also introduces us to Deapool as well which was pretty cool I must say. The cast was great, you get a more beefed up Wolverine here and Jackman looks in great shape and again is perfect here in the role, Liev Schreiber was excellent as Sabretooth as well and him and Jackman had great chemistry together on screen. Sure the movie could of been better, I felt the second half let down the first a bit but it is after all a popcorn flick and as an action film it certainly gets the job done. Take it for what it is and you will have a good time with it just don't expect some amazing story here, its a summer flick and one of better ones since this year most of the movies seemed below average to me.
